Follow Bot Protection

Published October 2, 2026

Our system offers some protection against suspected follow bots. However, it does not ensure detection and moderation of all follow bots, including newly created ones.

This feature is included in all plans.

What if I’m actively being follow-botted?

The broadcaster or channel moderators may use the !followbot command to enable follow-bot protection, you must run the command again after the follow-bot event has ended to disable.

What happens when follow bot protection is enabled?

Please note, there is a possibility for legitimate follows to be moderated; the broadcaster and their channel moderators should monitor and review any potential unban requests, if applicable.

  • Known Bots

    • They will be banned, timed-out, or removed based on your chat moderation settings. (This functionality will soon be deprecated.)

  • Other Follows

    • Remove follower. [FALLBACK]

    • Users will be flagged for review.

Notice - Follow Alerts

As always, if you're using third-party bots that trigger "new follow" alerts, you'll need to temporarily disable the alert to prevent spam. ChtrBot will now automatically disable it’s own follow alerts (if enabled) when you run the !followbot command.

Automatic Feature Disable

  • This feature is automatically disabled at the start and end of each stream.
